I teach both Mandarin Chinese and English. As a native Mandarin speaker and a University of Cambridge Education student, I combine practical teaching experience with evidence-based educational approaches. My experience includes teaching AP English Language and AP English Literature as a Teaching Assistant, mentoring students in academic writing and research, and providing one-to-one private tutoring. Having lived and studied in both China and the UK, I also bring strong intercultural awareness, helping students understand not only the language but also the cultural contexts in which it is used.

My lessons are interactive, structured, and student-centred. Rather than relying on rote memorisation, I encourage active participation through conversation, real-life scenarios, multimedia resources, and authentic materials. Depending on your objectives, lessons may focus on pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, or speaking. I also incorporate aspects of Chinese and British culture where appropriate, helping learners develop both linguistic ability and cultural confidence.

For students learning English, I can support academic writing, speaking, reading comprehension, and critical thinking. I have experience working with international school students and understand the challenges faced by learners studying in bilingual or international educational environments. For Mandarin learners, I can help you develop practical communication skills for travel, work, study, or personal interest, while introducing the customs, traditions, and everyday expressions that bring the language to life.
