Hi, my name is Kevin. I’m a professional Maths tutor and a First Class Statistics graduate from University College London (UCL), with several years of tutoring experience.

I currently work as an online GCSE Mathematics tutor, teaching both Foundation and Higher Maths. I have taught more than 200 students overall, primarily through small-group classes as well as one-to-one tuition. Alongside this, I have been tutoring privately since 2021, working with students of different ages, abilities and confidence levels.

My approach is to make Maths feel logical and manageable rather than something students simply have to memorise. I particularly enjoy taking topics that initially seem complicated and breaking them down into clear, simple steps.

Lessons are tailored to each student. I usually begin by identifying their current level, strengths, weaker areas and academic goals. From there, lessons can include worked examples, targeted practice, exam-style questions and past papers. I regularly assess progress and adapt the difficulty of the work depending on how confidently a student is performing.

A big part of my teaching is keeping students involved throughout the lesson. Rather than simply explaining a method and asking them to copy it, I ask questions regularly, check understanding and encourage students to explain their reasoning. This helps me identify misconceptions quickly and makes lessons much more interactive.

In my current tutoring role, I teach the full GCSE Maths curriculum, including Number, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Ratio, Probability and Statistics. I am comfortable supporting students who are struggling with the fundamentals as well as higher-attaining students aiming for Grades 7–9.

I also have experience preparing younger students for 11+ entrance exams, including Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. I can help students develop both the underlying skills and the exam technique needed to approach unfamiliar reasoning questions confidently and efficiently.

I achieved an A* in A Level Mathematics, an A in Further Mathematics and a Grade 9 in GCSE Maths before going on to complete a First Class BSc in Statistics at UCL. My mathematical background means I am also able to explain not just how a method works, but why it works, which can be particularly useful for students aiming for the highest grades.

I am friendly, patient and adaptable, and I try to create an environment where students are comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Confidence is often just as important as mathematical ability, so one of my main aims is for students to leave lessons feeling that the topic is considerably more manageable than it seemed beforehand.

My preferred method of teaching is online tuition, which allows me to use screen sharing, digital worksheets and interactive resources effectively. I can offer weekday and weekend availability depending on my existing teaching schedule.
