Our lessons will typically be broken into two halves (however this depends on the student and their preference) which will cover both the Literature and Language side of the specification.

For our Literature portion we will look at key themes and how to structure essays based on this. Aswell as key character quotes. The context of chosen texts is vital for English Literature too as it increases the amount of marks you are able to receive so we will cover this too. At the beginning of this portion of our session we will typically do a recap of information that will link to this session that we have covered in previous weeks (i.e. quotes).

For our Literature session, we will cover literary devices and how to identify them in both unseen extracts and extracts from our chosen texts. As well as this we will dissect how language choices can imply or explicitly alter the meaning of what has been written (as well as identifying the difference between explicit and implicit).

In addition, we will go over ways to answer the extended writing portions in either storytelling (my speciality) or detailed descriptions that is necessary for English.

I know GCSEs are daunting, but my teaching style of these key components will alter based on the students learning style (which we will determine by our introductory session) and make this as stress free for the student and family combined! For maximum communication I will keep you in the loop on your students progress and areas that need more support.
