My music theory lessons are tailored to each student’s level, learning style and goals. Whether you are a complete beginner or preparing for an ABRSM Grade 5 exam, I aim to make music theory clear, engaging and practical. Lessons combine clear explanations, visual examples, written exercises and exam-style questions. We can focus on note reading, rhythm, intervals, key signatures, scales, chords and other topics from the ABRSM syllabus, depending on your needs.

I hold a degree in music from the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, as well as an ABRSM Diploma in Music Teaching (ARSM). I currently teach privately and at the RCS Juniors Music Centre.

My teaching style is patient, encouraging and structured. I adapt my approach to each learner, helping students understand musical concepts rather than simply memorise rules. My goal is to build confidence, develop independent learning skills and support students in achieving their musical ambitions. Lessons are available online or in person, with or 60-minute sessions.
I also believe that music theory is most meaningful when connected to practical music-making. Where appropriate, I use examples from instrumental repertoire to help students recognise how theoretical concepts work in real music. I encourage students to ask questions, explore patterns and develop their musical curiosity. For exam preparation, we can work systematically through challenging topics, practise time management and review mistakes constructively, ensuring that students feel well prepared, supported and confident on exam day.
