I'm an astronomer who somehow ended up writing video games for a living for nearly 30 years. So I'm well versed in maths, physics and computer science which I've used throughout my career. Subjects which some may find dry or abstract have actually allowed me to both understand amazing things about the universe, a well as create fun products in virtual worlds, and so seeing the practical benefits of learning these things, and what they can enable you to do in your future life, can provide serious motivation to drive your learning.
I'm patient and determined, but also good-humoured. I try to make lessons fun, especially if the source material is heavy or when you're struggling with difficult things. I used to volunteer at a local drop-in centre for teenagers, and I have two 20+ daughters, one of whom has SEN, so I understand the emotional and psychological side of learning as well as just trying to cram information in. I want to get to know you - your strengths and weaknesses - so we can focus on improving the things that really matter. So when you study with me, you can know that we are in it together.
I can visit your home if you're local, I can do online lessons via Google Meet or Teams, or you can come to our family home near Cherry Hinton where we have (if all else fails) several Emotional Support guinea pigs. I look forward to meeting you and working together to smash those goals and grade predictions.
