Jude Willoughby

Having successfully prepared A-Level students for admission to Oxford and Cambridge English Literature, and helped lead pupils to top results at GCSE and A-Level as both a school teacher and private tutor, I now offer summer tutoring sessions online and in-person (in London) whilst I study for my PhD at Harvard (where I work mostly on the metaphysical poets, though also on sixteenth and seventeenth-century literature more broadly). I offer tuition and exam preparation as well as essay, dissertation and coursework feedback and reworking for students from GCSE to undergraduate-level.

When I was a school teacher I adapted to many learning styles; I offer bespoke sessions with resources and approaches adapted to individual students' needs, including any SEN requirements. My lessons are active and practical: we will attempt challenging tasks together with appropriate scaffolding, and I will provide ample resources and model answers for students. For students preparing for an exam, I will go above and beyond to give detailed feedback on regular mocks alongside our usual sessions. For students preparing coursework, dissertations or other essays, my sessions will be based on the Oxford tutorial system: I will read and annotate each draft before a session, and then we will have a detailed conversation over the merits and protential flaws of the argument presented.
