Hello, I’m Jude! I’m a pianist with Trinity College London Grades 1 to 8 and a recent UCL graduate. Having worked through every grade, I know what it takes to progress and where students tend to get stuck.
I began teaching 1:1 piano lessons in my community during my A-levels, taking complete beginners through their first notes and helping students with a year or two of experience reach the next level. Seeing a student play something they couldn’t manage the week before is still my favourite part of teaching.
Lessons are 1:1, online or in person. Each one has a clear structure: a short warm-up of scales or finger exercises, focused work on your pieces in manageable sections, then reading music, rhythm and a little theory so your skills grow together. You’ll leave every lesson with a realistic practice plan for the week.
Lessons are built around you. We can follow the Trinity or ABRSM exam pathway, including scales, aural and sight-reading, or simply play the music you enjoy, from classical to film music and pop.
My style is patient, encouraging and honest. Lessons are relaxed but structured, and mistakes are welcome, because that is how we learn. For younger students I use games and visual explanations, while with adults we can go deeper into technique.
I’d be happy to arrange a first lesson to get to know your goals and the music you’d like to play.
