I am a friendly, engaging and patient tutor. I have spent a lot of time working with younger students, so have a great understanding of how best to help them learn.
To make my sessions run most effectively, I would ask the student to let me know what they are struggling on or would like some support with, so that I can find effective material that would be most useful. If the student didn't have anything particular in mind, I would be very happy going over more broad topics, or looking through a past paper and finding the weak points that way.
I have found it best for the student if I explain the topic in detail until they understand it, go through a few questions from that topic with me, then after I would ask that they look at a few further questions themselves independently and email me with any struggles they have. Allowing me to either try explain it over email or go over it again in the following session.
The student is encouraged to let me know throughout the session if there are any questions they want to ask, to either go further into detail about something, explain something again or move on as they feel comfortable with it, I go at the students pace so that they don't feel rushed or stressed about the topic.
My ambition is to support them to have more confidence and become comfortable with the subject of Maths, so that they can achieve to the best of their ability.
