Every student I work with starts with a short conversation: where you are now, what you are aiming for, and what has not worked for you before. From there I build a plan around your specification and exam board, so nothing we do is wasted effort.
My lessons are structured but relaxed. I do not lecture at you for an hour. A typical session opens with a review of the work set last time, moves into a focused piece of new teaching, and then gets you applying it, out loud or on paper, while I am there to correct and guide. We finish by agreeing what you will practise before we next meet. I mark that work properly and return feedback that tells you exactly what to change.
Past papers have their place, but drilling them endlessly teaches little. I work on the underlying skills instead: reading texts closely, selecting evidence, structuring arguments and making inferences and evaluations. Mastering these skills will allow the student to enter the exam with full confidence that they can tackle any question or topic that might come up.
I am a qualified teacher and Teach First graduate with classroom experience in London schools, a PhD student at King's College London with published research, and a TEFL teacher in Spain and China. I have extensive experience of adaptive teaching and of supporting learners with SEND, so lessons are pitched to how you learn.
In 2025, Get Further named me Tutor of the Year. Lessons are online and flexible around your schedule.
