I tutored English and History. I select chapters in relevant textbooks and explain to my students the function and meaning of words. I encouraged discussion with students in an interactive format. I correct students when there are mistakes and give assignments for classroom discussions. Contents include use and function of verbs, phrases, clauses, sentences, and paragraphs. I also emphasize grammar as an effective medium of communication in English. I ensure evaluation in the form of quiz, test, or exam as a means to determine the students' response to the lessons. I motivate students by recognition of those students who perform excellently and encouraged those who are slow to comprehend the course materials by direct interaction with them in order to ascertain the reason(s) for their slowness to comprehend. As an effective communicator, I provide adequate explanation in regard to the lessons in order to erase doubts that may prevent the students from basic and broad understanding of the course materials. I entertained and encouraged students to ask questions in order to clarify doubts as much as possible.
I have been a classroom teacher since 1996 at various senior and junior secondary schools in Monrovia, the capitol of the west African State of Liberia. Moreover, I tutored at the Smyrna High School based in Smyrna, Delaware, USA where I proved to be an effective tutor in history and English as a foreign language. I also worked in various capacities and in many of those roles I impacted knowledge and help students to choose a career path.
