I’ve been a professional cartoonist, illustrator and art teacher for over 30 years, and during that time I’ve taught people at every level — from those convinced they “can’t draw a straight line” to artists who now work professionally for national newspapers and publishers.
Lessons are friendly, practical and very hands-on. I use a two-camera setup: one camera so we can talk and work things through together, and a second camera so you can clearly see me demonstrate drawing techniques in real time. This means you’re not just being told what to do — you can see how and why things work as they happen.
I’ve taught at primary, secondary and adult levels, including several years as a Special Educational Needs teacher, working closely with students with ADHD and Autism. Because of this, lessons are flexible, patient and adapted to how you learn best. The focus is always on confidence, enjoyment and steady progress.
Each lesson is tailored to your goals. That might mean building core drawing skills, developing characters and comic ideas, preparing for GCSE or A-Level art, working towards publication, or simply rediscovering the fun of drawing without pressure.
After every session, you’ll receive clear feedback and a fun, achievable homework exercise, designed to keep you drawing between lessons and to build momentum without overwhelm.
Whether your aim is professional, educational or purely for enjoyment, lessons are designed to get you drawing, thinking and creating as quickly as possible — and to enjoy the process along the way.
