I'm currently studying European and International Law in university and have ample experience with the subject of English literature. I studied it in sixth form along with achieving high grades in both GCSE and A-level. I also have previous tutoring experience with the subject, and can adapt to a variety of skills and needs. I have also completed an A-level of Sociology in sixth form. I have experience of tutoring sociology before, and achieved many A*s and A's in sociology throughout my time at sixth form, with A being my final grade.
Typically I begin my lessons by asking the student a variety of questions. For example, are they struggling with the subject in general or is there a specific area they want to work on? Next, I identify the student's strengths and weaknesses, and try to create a balance of working on both; to keep the strengths ongoing and to make the weaknesses strengths. Furthermore, my lessons are quite interactive, going step-by-step to answer a question. In terms of creativity, there is lots present in my lessons, as I feel it is an important factor in making the lessons enjoyable alongside meaningful. The pace is usually easygoing, but can be adapted to each individual. I prioritise critical thinking, especially for essay subjects, and so typically my lessons include attempts at answering a question from the student before I offer feedback. I offer help in terms of structure, language and technique, so I can accommodate to each student's priorities.
It is important that the student also feels safe in the learning environment, and I've had much well-being training to manage this. I am also aware when something needs to be reported. Additionally, I have had much experience with the subjects I offer tutoring services for, and I'm equally as passionate about them! I feel this encourages a fun and motivating learning environment, which is useful for remembering information and being inspired.
At the end of each session, I allow time for any relating questions, and expand on them, and finally explain what I will be covering in the next session.
