My tutoring approach focuses on tailoring each session to the individual students needs to ensure the main goal is achieved, which is that the subject feels manageable and understandable. For essay-based subjects, which is my preferred field, I also place strong emphasis on structure of questions and help students plan in accordance so whatever questions are presented they have a great way of responding. This can also mean going through essay plans that can apply to a variant of questions or picking apart horrible questions to find a way to respond to it!
As someone who went to tutoring as I didn’t feel confident enough in exam settings, I understand the feeling and I have learnt some great ways to help with confidence, as well as timing, in exams which could really make the difference to a student!
