In my lessons I use a mixture of methods including: past paper practice, going through the syllabus and testing their understandinga of the concepts in each topic, using resources from the exam board itself and also resources like BBC bitesize, setting homework each week and marking / reviewing answers. The Past Papers and homework answers tell me a lot about where a student is lacking in understanding, and where to focus our efforts. I use a virtual whiteboard to explain difficult concepts in an easy real-world broken down way.

I'm focused on helping students truly understand the material rather than simply memorising information. My tutoring style is approachable, where all questions are welcome, none are silly. Mistakes are very welcome too, getting something wrong is a big teacher to understanding and never getting it wrong again - I prefer that a student admits they don't know something, than to lie and guess and get it right on "luck". So I encourage my students from the beginning to know that admitting they don't know something is ok, it's allowed and encouraged.

I really enjoy seeing the progression of the student, not only in their grades and understanding over the year, but also their confidence with themselves and the material. I feel enthusiastic about this work for this reason, and it makes for a very warm and enthusiastic dynamic in my lessons too.
