I have been a biology teacher for 20 years. I have taught A level and AS biology as well as GCSE science and can deliver GCSE content in all three sciences. Most of my experience is with the AQA syllabus but am able to support with other exam boards.
I build my lessons based on individual needs and learning styles. I have 16 years of experience teaching students who have English as an additional language.
Lessons will include theory, exam style questions, discussions and quizzes.
I will manage the content of the lesson depending on your goals.
Topics are covered in order and speed directed by the students. I believe it is vital that lessons are engaging, dynamic and personalised.
I also have many years of experience in pastoral care and so can offer and support with mentoring, general organisation and use coaching style techniques to ensure my students reach their full potential.
I am a qualified teacher, level 7 executive coach and a mental health first aider. I build strong relationships with my students, I am dedicated, reliable and always looking for new ways to support young people on their educational path.
I am able to help with; examination prep, via focusing on how to answer the different style of questions and help develop the skill of applying your knowledge, pre-course preparation so you feel confident starting your course and also day to day support to further understanding of what you are leaning in school to allow you to feel more confident in your lessons.

Mrs. Holroyd was my A Level Biology teacher and played a key role in helping me secure a place at Imperial to study Biomedical Sciences. She is by far the best teacher I’ve had; exceptionally knowledgeable and truly committed to her students’ success. What set her apart was her ability to explain complex biological concepts in a clear, structured way that actually stuck. She provided tailored exam questions and prep that mirrored the style and difficulty of real A Level exams, which made revision much more effective. Her feedback was always detailed and actionable, helping me improve my exam technique and understand where I was losing marks. She consistently went the extra mile, whether it was running extra sessions before exams, reviewing practice papers one-on-one, or answering questions outside of class. Thanks to her support, I felt confident and well-prepared throughout my A Levels. I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better teacher.

It was very nice! She is always very patient with us even if I asked her the same question for many times, she will always explain it to me and make sure I understand before moving on. Not only that, she always notices my condition when I was over stressed and help me overcome those hard times, and cared for me a lot after I got better, and make sure I was okay. I really enjoyed being her student!

Miss Holroyd played a very important role during my exams in A Level’s. She was very patient when teaching me different concepts for my biology exams and explaining the concepts in different formats to help me understand as English is not my first language. I highly recommend working with Miss Holroyd if you want you to feel more confident and do well in your exams!
