Jane Edmondson

I can teach lessons in a traditional structure for piano, but I also tailor lessons to the individual.

Classically trained in piano, violin and voice, I later started learning acoustic guitar and then moved on to electric guitar. I have been songwriting since the age of 15 and recording in studios and at home since the age of 17. I have been producing professionally for 9 years on Ableton Live Suite and I lead a solo electronic and new wave project for which I am releasing music and performing live shows.

I have taught in both mainstream and SEN settings, as well as one to one at pupil's homes for an outreach service. I have also been a project facilitator in music at an arts charity in East London supporting adults with learning difficulties and teaching them practical and emotional skills. For over three years, I have also been working as a part-time private carer. Alongside all my roles, I have continued in various administrative bookings and I welcome pupils from beginners to more advanced in piano, singing, songwriting, guitar and beginners violin.

I follow the pomodoro technique to make learning accessible and manageable. I often take the first five minutes of the lessons for musicianship/music appreciation through journalling, demonstrating a piece or listening and reviewing a recorded piece of music. I remain active through martial arts and dance - I believe these have both provided me with motivation to teach.
