Jake Walsh

Hi, I’m Jake - a friendly and dedicated science tutor currently in my final year of studying MSci Chemistry at the University of Birmingham. I provide KS3 and GCSE tutoring in Chemistry, Biology and Maths. My focus is to help my students build confidence in their exam technique, improve grades, and develop a genuine understanding of the subject rather than just memorising content.

Having completed my own A-Levels in 2023, I understand the pressure students face and the challenges of modern exam specifications. My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, whether they need help catching up on difficult topics, improving exam technique, or pushing for the highest grades. I provide clear explanations, active recall, worked examples, and exam-style practice to make sure students feel fully prepared for assessments.

I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes - because that’s where real learning happens. I break complex ideas down into simple steps and adapt my teaching style depending on how each student learns best.

I also provide flexible online lessons, personalised resources, and regular progress updates so both students and parents can clearly see improvement over time. Every lesson is structured to make the most of the session while keeping learning engaging, productive, and focused on achieving real results.

Alongside private tutoring, I also have experience working with both younger and SEN students across different stages and abilities, helping them improve both academically and in confidence. My goal is not only to help students succeed in exams, but also to help them become more independent and motivated learners.
