About me
I have an BA in Ancient History and an MA with Distinction in Military History from the University of Birmingham. My areas of specialism include Classical Greece, Alexander the Great, the formation of the Roman Empire, the Roman Invasion of Britain, the Rise of Christianity, the Crusades, the Eastern Front of WW1 and the modern history of Israel-Palestine. I'm particularly interested in religion and warfare and enjoy taking a thematic approach to looking at history.
I'm still new to tutoring, having worked since graduation in historical documentaries. I focus on visual aids such as family trees, timelines and maps to help make historical sequences as memorable as possible and my lessons are structured around discussions of primary sources. Over several lessons I aim to teach my students how to formulate essays into evidence-based arguments with compelling conclusions that impact readers.
