use a clear, structured, and student-centred teaching approach that focuses on understanding rather than memorisation. My lessons are designed to break complex topics into manageable steps, ensuring students build strong foundations before progressing to more challenging content. I regularly use exam-style questions, model answers, and mark-scheme guidance so students understand exactly what examiners are looking for and how to apply their knowledge effectively. I also adapt my teaching to suit different learning styles by combining explanations, visual aids, worked examples, and active questioning to check understanding.
Being a tutor at 17, having just completed my GCSEs, is a significant advantage. I have recent, first-hand experience of the current GCSE specifications, exam formats, and common pitfalls students face. This allows me to give practical, relevant advice on revision techniques, time management, and exam strategy that older tutors may not recall as clearly. Because I am close in age to my students, I am highly approachable, which helps create a supportive learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and admitting when they do not understand something.
Additionally, I understand the pressures of balancing schoolwork, exams, and extracurricular commitments, so I tailor my lessons to be efficient and focused. My aim is not only to improve grades but also to build confidence, independence, and effective study habits. This combination of subject knowledge, relatability, and exam awareness makes my teaching both effective and engaging, and allows me to support students in achieving their full potential. For summary, I primarily use past paper and practice questions to hammer down the structure for each question and what the examiner wants.
