My lessons are relaxed, supportive, and tailored to each student. I know that everyone learns differently, so I don’t stick to a one-size-fits-all approach. At the start of our sessions, I usually ask what the student is finding difficult at school or what topic they want to focus on, so we can spend time on what actually matters to them.
A typical lesson includes going over a topic together, breaking it down into manageable steps, and then practising questions to make sure it makes sense. I often use exam-style questions, as they help students understand what GCSE exams are really looking for. I talk through answers carefully and explain where marks come from, which helps students feel more confident when they’re working on their own.
I’ve tutored GCSE students before, so I understand how stressful exams can feel. A big part of my teaching is helping students feel more comfortable asking questions and not worrying about getting things wrong. Mistakes are a normal part of learning, and I always make sure students leave the lesson feeling clearer than when they started.
I also focus on exam technique and revision skills, such as how to structure answers, manage time, and revise efficiently between lessons. My aim is not just to help students improve their grades, but to help them feel more confident and in control of their learning.
