About me

Hi, I'm Faraz. I've been teaching Maths for over 10 years and it's the only subject I teach. I have an engineering degree and a B.Ed, so I understand both the maths itself and the reasons students get stuck on it. More than 500 students have come through my lessons, most of them online, and around 95% of my exam candidates finish in the grade 7 to 9 range.

I teach GCSE and IGCSE Maths across AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and Eduqas, plus Cambridge IGCSE 0580 and 0980 and Edexcel IGCSE 4MA1. I also take A-Level students. Because I stay inside these specifications all year round, I know the mark schemes properly, and I can usually tell within one session which grade a student is currently sitting on and what's holding them there.

Here's what a lesson actually looks like. We start with a quick review of the homework, then move into the topic for that day. I teach live on a digital whiteboard and work through a question in full, so you can see the layout an examiner expects to see. Then I hand the next one to you and watch while you solve it. That part matters a lot. It's far easier to correct a wrong method while it's happening than to discover it a week later on a marked paper.

The material comes from real past papers and predicted question sets rather than made up textbook exercises. I spend a lot of time on exam technique, because plenty of students genuinely understand the maths and still lose marks on working, rounding, units and misreading the question.

After every lesson you get a worksheet or a past paper section as homework, and we mark it together next time. I keep a record of the scores so you and your parents can see whether things are genuinely improving.

I'm calm and patient and I don't rush anyone. If a topic isn't landing, we stop and rebuild it properly. Every new student gets a free 30 minute session first, so you can see how I teach before committing to anything.
