I have been working as an English Tutor for over a month, helping students with their English Literature, English Language, and Essay Writing skills. I also have additional experience volunteering as an English tutor in schools abroad, supporting primary-school-aged children with their English language skills. Additionally, I further developed my tutoring skills while at university, tutoring students struggling with their reading comprehension and essay writing skills.
My lessons usually have a clear objective to start; before I begin any lesson, I like to have a comprehensive objective so that I can tailor the lesson to support students with whatever they are struggling with. I also like to begin with a little icebreaker to help myself and the student warm up and get to know one another better. The main bulk of the lesson would be me as the tutor trying to assess the student's understanding of the topic we are studying, I would do this by sequencing the lesson in an engaging and meaningful manner, planning different activities and specific learning assessments for the student to engage with throughout the lesson. I like to finish with a warm-down activity which would allow me as a tutor to understand how the student felt that the lesson went and what they would like me to include in future lessons to help their understanding of the topic better.
I use Word, Edexcel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs for my lesson; however, I can use another preferred resource if the students aren't able to use those applications.
