Hi there!
My name is Izzy, I am a qualified Grade 8 Guitarist and am currently studying Music performance at the University of Leeds. I have been teaching the guitar for almost three years, and additionally have experience also playing violin, ukulele, and bass guitar. I am experienced in playing a range of styles; I have been involved in jazz bands since 2023, have played many gigs in my Indie rock band and more recently have joined two metal bands. I love improvisation, and have attended song-writing courses so am more than happy to help with that!
I have taught people from a range of ages, both young children and adults during my time as a private teacher and working at a local music shop.
I like to start my lessons by asking you what you want to get out of the session. Whether that be learning a new song, mastering a new technique, or getting ready for a graded exam, I will be there to help!
During the lesson I will explain techniques to you with demonstrations and of course answer any questions you may have! I find that the best way to learn is to practice slow at first before gradually building speed. I like to do this by playing together with my students to build confidence and skill.
I provide my students with worksheets to takeaway after the session and use for practice. This can include scales, tabs, chord diagrams, songs, etc. I find that having a paper version of what we discuss makes remembering and practicing content far easier.
