Ioanna Sapountzi

My teaching style is fully interactive and I help you make progress through clear explanations, modelling, practice opportunities and constructive feedback. I am flexible and can complement any textbook with supporting materials and adapt them to your individual level and needs. I have extensive experience using Taylor’s textbooks to consolidate the teaching of language and routinely create extensive practice and assessment resources to support the teaching of literature.

I have served as Setter and Principal Examiner with OCR for ten years and developed a thorough knowledge of the OCR public examination specifications. I have expertise teaching all examinable units and set text options in Greek and Latin, but my primary loves are Greek language, epic, philosophy and tragedy. I have led residential trips to Greece and love bringing the ancient sites to life through story telling and inspiring my students with the eternal questions that this awesome civilisation asked.

As a Head of Sixth Form, I have a wealth of experience supporting students in a range of diverse future options and can help you make informed choices about your future and give your competitive University application the edge. I believe that there is a right path for everyone regardless of your predictions or qualifications and that you can find true purpose by playing to your strengths and interests and doing what you love.

Furthermore, as a coach-in-training, I am on my journey towards gaining ICF accreditation in transformative coaching. I can help you overcome academic challenges, build resilience and confidence and develop organisation and mindset skills.
