I tutor SQA National 5 and Higher Maths and focus on helping students properly understand topics rather than just memorising methods. I enjoy explaining challenging concepts in a clear and structured way and supporting students as they build confidence in Maths.

Before each lesson, I like to find out what areas a student would like to focus on so I can prepare targeted questions and explanations in advance. During lessons, I break topics down step by step and work through examples together, making sure everything makes sense before moving on. I encourage students to ask questions and take their time, as building confidence is just as important as getting the right answer.

I achieved A grades in both SQA National 5 and Higher Maths, and having taken the SQA exams myself, I understand how the courses are structured and what students are expected to know.

I also place strong emphasis on practice, as regular problem solving helps reinforce understanding and build long-term confidence. Where helpful, I can provide additional questions or revision strategies to support independent study between lessons.

My aim is to create a supportive and comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, improve their understanding, and grow their confidence with Maths. I tailor each lesson to the individual student so we can focus on the areas that will help them progress the most.
