I take a supportive & encouraging yet aspirational approach to tutoring. I will use recent news articles, Q&As, practice speeches & conversation exercises to ensure students get the extra practice needed to enhance their speaking skills.
English speaking is often a matter of confidence, lessons would be a safe space to improve confidence & fluency. Lessons can be between 30 mins to an hour depending on your needs. I can tailor my lessons depending on what you wish to improve!

Hello! My name is Helena and I hope my students learn to improve their language skills and love public speaking as much as I do! Learning the art of public speaking has been one of the most rewarding things I have done, it brings with it so many new opportunities, both academically and in personal development!

MY EXPERIENCE:
• English tutor to refugee children in Lebanon via the Alsama Project helping them gain confidence in their reading & conversation skills
• Debating & Public Speaking mentoring at school helping students aged 11-16 weekly.
• 7 years experience in regional & national debating/public speaking competitions
• National Finalist in the English-Speaking-Union Mace Debate competition
• Twice participated in the London School of Economics Schools Debating competition
• Extensive public speaking experience to audiences of 700+ as Head Girl (including to prospective parents & governors)
• Semifinalist of the Durham Colleges Debate Cup competition
• LAMDA Grade 8 Distinction in Performance & RADA Gold Award
• Grade 9 in English at GCSE level
• 3 A's in History, Politics, Spanish at A-Level
• current Undergraduate student at Durham University
