Hi, I'm Helen! I'm a native English speaker, CELTA-qualified English and ESOL tutor with a degree in English Literature with Writing. I want all my learners to enjoy learning and feel confident being themselves! My teaching style is student-centred, and always tailored to you. This means I focus on creating structured and personalised lessons to each of your needs and goals, whether you’re looking to improve in everyday conversation, expand your accuracy of English, or develop your fluency. I teach all the main skills of English: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

At the forefront of learning, I believe the classroom should be a safe, inclusive and comfortable environment. I believe the best learning happens when you feel comfortable and supported, so I work hard to create a relaxed, welcoming space where you can show up as yourself and learn at your own pace. I use a variety of engaging activities, from discussions and debates to creative, real-life scenarios, to make lessons feel meaningful and enjoyable rather than intimidating.

I have experience teaching pre-intermediate to upper-intermediate adult learners in group settings, as well as working with beginner-level learners from refugee backgrounds. This has given me a flexible, adaptive approach; I'm equally comfortable breaking down the basics with patience and clarity as I am stretching more confident learners with richer, more challenging material. I'm also trained in safeguarding and take your well-being seriously.

Outside of teaching, I'm a creative person; I have a background as a freelance digital artist and a love of literature, and I bring that creativity into my lessons wherever I can, so I do my best to make lessons visually engaging and genuinely interesting.
