Hannah Shakespeare

I'm a qualified Spanish teacher and language specialist with experience teaching KS3–KS5 students, leading Spanish curriculum development, and creating engaging online learning resources. I am a Cambridge graduate with a First-Class degree in Spanish and Portuguese, a PGCE, and a Master's in Second Language Education, I have taught in schools for over 5 years alongside developing nationally published lessons for Oak National Academy. I combine strong subject knowledge with evidence-informed teaching, adapting lessons to individual needs and helping learners build confidence, fluency, and success in Spanish.

My lessons are tailored to each learner’s goals, whether they are preparing for GCSEs, A Levels, university study, travel, work, or simply learning Spanish for enjoyment. I create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel confident to practise speaking and make mistakes as part of the learning process. Lessons combine structured grammar instruction with practical communication skills, helping learners develop fluency, accuracy, and confidence. I use a variety of engaging resources, including authentic texts, videos, interactive activities, and retrieval-based practice to reinforce learning. Drawing on my classroom experience and research in second language education, I adapt my teaching to suit individual learning styles and needs. Regular feedback and personalised targets ensure that students can clearly track their progress and celebrate their success. Through clear explanations, patient guidance, and engaging activities, I help learners develop both their language skills and their confidence as independent speakers of Spanish. I also help students develop effective revision strategies, exam technique, and long-term confidence in their language learning.
