I will first identify any problems and give some relevant exercises, for example training mental calculation for algebra, playing sudoku.
I will understand the student’s learning style and process, what makes them more effective in learning or sometimes in a creative way. Personally my learning style is kinaesthetic, and I listened to pop especially high energy music when I did my Pure Math exercise because it stimulated my brainwaves, kept me focused and active instead of feeling distracted as it may be labelled traditionally and deeply misunderstood. I am happy to try first lesson free to see if it works out and find out a unique way to help the students.
My maths journey is quite special because I saw my parents playing pokers every night which stimulated my imagination and found the best combination by calculating possibility. I had also witnessed their sealed bids at early age and later on learned in New York University it is the method Federal Reserve used in Treasury bond auction. I can demonstrate the funny example and play with students how Dutch cheese makers negotiate price and strengthen their mental calculation capacity. I will also show them golden ratio relating to the nature such as the snail’s shape in math way. I believe maths expression is the way to help understand this world and should be taught or inspired in an interesting way instead of just a classroom setting.
I like the class to be goal-setting, more dynamic, problem-solving open and honest communication and no blaming. I hope to inspire the student to understand their brain and even how important a balanced diet and mineral intake affects their neurological functioning and performance. I hope the students develop the best way to learn math, such as joining math clubs to play games or music (literally maths) in their own time.
