My aim as a tutor is to create a positive, supportive environment where every child feels confident to ask questions, make mistakes and enjoy learning. I believe children learn best when lessons are engaging, interactive and tailored to their individual needs, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

At the start of tutoring, I would identify each student’s strengths, areas for improvement and learning style. This allows me to plan lessons that are personalised and paced appropriately, helping children build confidence alongside their academic skills.

My lessons would combine clear explanations with practical activities, discussion, games and retrieval practice to keep students actively involved. For English and grammar, I would focus on reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation and creative writing, using interesting texts and age-appropriate challenges. In history, I would encourage curiosity by exploring historical events through stories, timelines, sources and critical thinking, helping children understand not only what happened but why it mattered. For science, I would make learning as hands-on as possible, using simple experiments, diagrams and real-life examples to explain scientific concepts in a way that is easy to understand.

I also believe regular encouragement and constructive feedback are essential. Celebrating progress, no matter how small, helps children develop resilience and a growth mindset, giving them the confidence to tackle more challenging work over time.

Above all, I want my lessons to be enjoyable. When children feel comfortable, supported and interested in what they are learning, they are far more likely to succeed both academically and personally. My goal is not only to improve their knowledge, but also to help them become confident, independent learners who enjoy discovering new things.
