What My Lessons Are Like
In my lessons, I aim to create a dynamic and supportive learning environment tailored to your goals and learning style. Here’s what you can expect:
Lesson Format
Structured yet Flexible: Each lesson has a clear plan, starting with a quick review of previous material, followed by focused work on new topics, and ending with a recap and actionable takeaways.
Interactive and Engaging: Lessons are conversational, encouraging you to ask questions, share thoughts, and apply what you’re learning in real-time.
Content and Dynamics
Tailored to Your Needs: Whether you’re a beginner looking to grasp the basics or an advanced learner aiming to refine your skills, I customize the content to suit your level and interests.
Diverse Methods: Lessons include explanations, practical exercises, real-world applications, and discussions to ensure a well-rounded understanding.
Active Participation: Expect to speak, write, or practice what we’re learning. I believe the best way to learn is by doing!
My Experience
With over two years of teaching and tutoring experience, I have worked with students across a wide range of backgrounds, abilities, and educational contexts, both in the UK and internationally. I am currently training to become a qualified teacher and have classroom experience teaching Geography across KS3 and KS4, alongside one-to-one and small-group tuition. This has allowed me to develop a strong understanding of how to adapt explanations, pace, and support to meet individual learner needs.
My strength lies in breaking down complex geographical concepts into clear, manageable steps, helping students to build confidence and genuine understanding rather than relying on memorisation. I use real-world examples, case studies, and visual explanations to make Geography relevant and engaging, particularly for students who may lack confidence or feel overwhelmed by the subject.
I place a strong emphasis on high expectations, positive relationships, and structured support. I am experienced in working with students who require additional scaffolding, including SEND and EAL learners, and I prioritise creating a calm, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My approach balances challenge with encouragement, ensuring that learning is both accessible and motivating.
Having studied and taught abroad, I bring a global perspective to my teaching and value cultural awareness, curiosity, and critical thinking. Above all, I aim to help students not only improve academically, but also develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to succeed in Geography and beyond.
