My lessons are structured but flexible, adapted to each student's level and goals. For a first session, I like to spend some time understanding where a student currently stands — their strengths, gaps, and what they find difficult — before building a plan tailored to their needs, whether that's steady progress through the syllabus, targeted exam preparation, or extending beyond the curriculum for a stronger student.
A typical lesson usually follows a clear structure: a quick review of previous learning, focused teaching or problem-solving on the topic at hand, guided practice with feedback as we go, and a short recap at the end so the student leaves clear on what they've learned and what to focus on next. For programming topics, this often means working through real code together rather than just talking through theory — I find students understand concepts far better once they've built and debugged something themselves. I'm also experienced in adapting my approach for students with additional learning needs, keeping lessons accessible.
I'm comfortable teaching online or in person, and I adapt my pace and explanations depending on how a student learns best — some benefit from visual diagrams and step-by-step breakdowns, others from working through past exam questions directly. I keep parents or students updated on progress after sessions where useful, and I'm always happy to adjust the approach if something isn't working.
