George Shiel

I am an experienced English teacher with over 20 years of teaching students from many different countries. My work has taken me to the UK, Japan, Poland, Mexico, and the Czech Republic. I have a Master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and a Trinity DipTESOL qualification.

A key part of my teaching is conversational English. I help students improve their speaking, listening, and confidence in real-life situations. Lessons focus on clear communication for everyday life, including travel, work, and social situations. I have taught general English, business English, and academic English to children, teenagers, and adults at all levels, from beginners to advanced.

I also prepare students for exams such as IELTS and work as an IELTS Speaking and Writing Examiner. This experience helps me give clear advice and useful practice so students can achieve good results.

My teaching style is friendly and patient, and I work hard to create a relaxed and supportive environment. Students feel comfortable speaking and asking questions. I use simple explanations and practical activities to help students learn quickly. Speaking is the main focus, but I also support students with grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing when needed.

An interest in different cultures and languages helps me connect with students from around the world. I understand the challenges of learning English and always adapt lessons to each student’s needs and goals. Each lesson aims to be interesting, useful, and enjoyable.
