My name is Fernando and I am a qualified Spanish Teacher with years of experience teaching in different environments.

I have a degree in English Studies and a Master's in Education with specialisation in second language acquisition. I hold full QTS (Qualified Teacher Status in the UK). I am also Cervantes Institute certified DELE examiner.

I keep myself updated in the field, taking opportunities for continuous professional development. For example, I recently achieved Associate Fellow of Higher Education.

I have experience teaching Spanish in different settings, especially in Higher Education in the UK. In the past I have taken different teaching roles at Coventry University or the University of Birmingham. I have also worked as a private tutor, preparing for GCSE and A-Levels Spanish as well as organising 1:1/group courses for adult learners. I have particular experience working with beginner users of the language and working our way up to confident use.

Currently, I am doing my PhD in Hispanic Studies while I teach Spanish part-time at Aberystwyth University (Wales), so the Spanish language really is my bread and butter!

Fernando is an excellent teacher. He is conscientious, reliable and very skilled at adapting lessons and materials to the requirements of the learner at an appropriate level. My Spanish speaking, listening and writing skills have all improved markedly since I started lessons with him. I highly recommend him!

I highly value Fernando’s teaching and motivational skills. I’ve known Fernando since I started taking Spanish lessons at my local college. The lessons were class room style but were interrupted by COVID and school closures. I have been an Online student ever since. During the classroom lessons I observed Fernando engaging with a diverse group of students. He holds attention brilliantly and uses really engaging materials. Songs, books, Spanish present day and history for example. I am learning Spanish in my 60’s purely for enjoyment and conversation whilst I spend a few months each year in Spain. I am not the quickest student, however Fernando adapts to my pace and tailors his teaching to what I really want/ need. He adjusts pace and materials brilliantly. I know he teaches Spanish at higher education levels. In a word, Fernando is ‘superb’. I highly recommend him. Gracias Rowland
