Every lesson starts with a clear goal. Before we begin, I find out exactly where the student is struggling, which topics need the most work, and what has not helped before. There is no point covering ground the student already knows or repeating an approach that has already failed.
For Biology and Science, I use visual diagrams, worked examples, and real-world explanations drawn from my clinical training as a dentist. I do not just teach students what to write in an exam; I make sure they understand why it is true. That understanding is what transfers under pressure.
For English and Creative Writing, I work directly from the student's own writing. I annotate it, show precisely what is working and what is not, and explain how to fix it. Students improve faster when they can see the gap between where they are and where they need to be.
Sessions follow a structured format: review of previous material, focused work on the current topic, a short practice task, and specific feedback before we finish. If something needs more time, we stay with it.
I track progress across sessions and adjust my methods when something is not working. I am patient and create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions, but I am also direct with feedback because honesty is what produces results.
