Esma Ghanem

I’m a medical student at the University of Leicester, currently studying medicine after achieving A* grades in Biology, Chemistry and Economics at A Level. I now tutor GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry.
I have consistently ranked in the top 10% of my year in every medical school summative examination, every year, and I understand what it takes to learn complex scientific material effectively and perform well under exam conditions.
My lessons are structured, personalised and interactive. I first identify the student’s strengths and areas for improvement, then tailor each session around their individual goals. I focus on breaking difficult topics into clear, manageable concepts rather than simply asking students to memorise information. We then reinforce understanding through active recall, exam-style questions and targeted practice.
I believe understanding comes first, but exam technique is equally important. I therefore help students recognise how topics are tested, approach unfamiliar questions logically and avoid common mistakes.
I also have experience creating medical examination questions for fellow students, which has strengthened my ability to write clear, accurate and appropriately challenging questions.
Most importantly, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My aim is to create a supportive environment where students can build genuine understanding, confidence and independence - whether they are working towards a specific grade or simply want to feel more confident in Biology or Chemistry.
