My lessons are curated for each individual student, with my primary aim being to meet individual students' needs. My lessons all follow the same structure, which is: - A starter- often with literacy or numeracy incorporated into them - A keyword for the lesson with a definition - Knowledge input, where I provide the key information needed for the lesson - A task where students are able to apply this knowledge- each task depends on the different topics being taught - An extended writing task, often in the form of a GCSE-style question, allowing students to begin to think about how to answer a GCSE question, and what the exam boards will be looking for- these are usually timed for 10 minutes - I then quickly mark your response and give you two stars and a wish, with you then spending about 5 minutes working on the target - A plenary (often a quick quiz) to recap what you have learned
In order to make lessons engaging, I often show videos (usually clips from Horrible Histories) and create fun activities to help further your understanding of each topic.
For older students (GCSE and A-Level), my lessons are usually based on exam questions and techniques, rather than content. If there is content you wish to go over in our session, I will spend dedicated time talking through it and helping you to understand it clearer. But, I primarily focus on how to obtain the top marks for each exam question, and setting you a question to complete before the next session. I will then mark your answer and we will spend time talking through your response and the mark scheme.
