I love encouraging language enthusiasts to be even more enthusiastic. I adapt and apply different styles and methods based on your preferences and needs. I can teach any level and am always looking to improve my methodology by analysing your experience and feedback. As a recent graduate, I still have a lot to learn and am currently developing my methods, but hope I can bring fresh insights and approaches for learners of all levels. Having researched foreign language learning and teaching methods for my dissertation, I am aware of modern trends in how teaching is received and thus look to adapt my methods based on this research. I have informally taught relatives Japanese at absolute beginner level and have helped teach S1s (12-13 years old) French at my secondary school. These experiences have made me even more passionate about helping people with languages.
In our first session, I plan to:
- Have a friendly introduction
- Discuss your thoughts, plans, and goals for language learning
- Analyse your previous language learning experiences to see what you liked and disliked
- Hash out what elements you would like to focus on and what methods you would like to employ.
This is all about your learning experience. I am here to guide you based on what I have witnessed both from my own and others' experiences and language learning trends in research so that you can reach your goal more easily and have some accountability on your journey.
In later sessions, we will:
- Develop your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, emphasising whatever preferences you mentioned in our first session
- Do deep dives into grammar and vocabulary
- Use a range of approaches depending on your ideal style - casual conversation, role-plays, podcasts, worksheets: the whole lot!
- Review your progress and help you get to the next step towards wherever you want to be. This also includes anything you would like me to adapt!
I am always:
- Open to your changing plans or what you want to get out of the sessions
- Looking to your feedback as a new tutor
- Seeking to improve my methods and approach.
I look forward to seeing you!
