I have five years’ experience teaching GCSE Geography classes, with extensive experience preparing students for their examinations. I have also worked as an AQA examiner, giving me a strong understanding of assessment criteria, common misconceptions, exam expectations and how students can effectively structure their responses to maximise marks.
I am highly adaptable in my teaching approach and tailor my lessons to the needs, ability and learning preferences of individual students. I use a range of teaching techniques and resources, including PowerPoint presentations, live modelling, diagrams, dual coding and worked examples, to make complex geographical concepts accessible and engaging. I particularly value modelling effective geographical thinking and exam responses, allowing students to see clearly what a successful answer looks like.
Although my specialism is Physical Geography, I have taught a broad range of GCSE Geography content across both physical and human geography. I have extensive experience teaching a wide variety of case studies and supporting students in developing the detailed knowledge and application required for GCSE examinations. I am confident adapting lessons across different exam specifications and focusing on the specific requirements of individual students.
My combination of classroom teaching experience, subject knowledge and experience as an AQA examiner enables me to support students not only in developing their geographical understanding, but also in building confidence, improving exam technique and becoming more independent learners.
