I can vary my lessons depending in the student however I would normally start with a pre-requisite, a skill that it required as a fundamental to the lesson just to check that there are no misconceptions initially. I would move onto me explaining and demonstrating a concept. Then I would suggest that the student has a go at a number of questions which would build up in their difficulty. I always like to add an exam question so that the student can relate what has been learnt to an upcoming exam.

I like to build in exam techniques during the lesson and will suggest that a student makes flashcards along the way which can be used at a future time. In addition I like to break down problem solving questions to support the student and then follow up with a shadow question which allows the student to complete the question with minimal help.

I find that using diagrams can help individuals to break down questions into clearer visual aids. This can work on a range of topics from fractions, ratios to shape and probability.

I have supported a number of learners from KS3 to KS5. I like to build confidence and praise individuals to allow them to enjoy the Maths. I am happy to discuss what your learner requires and work out the best programme to support their learning.
