Edwin Helbert Aponte Angarita

I am a PhD student at the University of Birmingham and I am looking forward to help anyone who is interested in expanding their knowledge of Spanish, mathematics, physics or computer science. As a native speaker, I can tutor you in Spanish at any level. With regards to mathematics, physics or computer science, I can tutor you at secondary school level, or at higher levels on some particular topics, whose specifics will have to be discussed on a case by case basis.

So that my tutoring can fit seamlessly with the way in which subjects are taught in schools across the UK, I can structure my teaching according to the AQA or OCR specifications. In this way, tutoring sessions can focus on revisiting individual topics for improving their understanding, or the whole topic may be taught again if required. Additionally, in the event that a student is clear about the specific topics that they need to revisit or study anew, sessions that focus on exactly those topics will be scheduled. However, I provide an active guidance in all cases, suggesting topics that need to be studied further before the student can proceed with more advanced ones.

Tutoring sessions may be tailored more freely if the student so chooses (maybe because they are not in school and do not need their study to conform with a curriculum). For the particular case of Spanish, for example, sessions could be oriented towards conversation, writing or reading; or the learning of the language can be guided through the comprehension of a book, or a film, or both. For other subjects, sessions can be adapted to the particular knowledge needs of the student as well.

I enjoy learning and sharing my knowledge. My main interests are sciences and mathematics (I am doing a PhD in Computational Biology), though I also like learning languages (I am learning French on my own).

I expect an adequate level of dedication from students. I also commit to, and demand that students, maintain a respectful relation between us.
