I am an experienced, classically-trained musician with years of experience performing across the UK and Europe.

I have been playing music since the age of five across a variety of instruments, including piano, drums and french horn, and have gigged all over the UK and Europe, from storied venues and festivals (Boardmasters, Wide Awake, Radio 1's Big Weekend, Best Kept Secret, Syd For Solen), to live on-air BBC Radio sessions at Maida Vale and on television (ARTE, BBC).

Teaching is a natural progression for musicians and I love it as both a way of keeping up my chops and sharing what I've learned, but also learning from students, such as what music they like and what inspires them. The beautiful thing about music is it is collaborative and teaching music is no different.

I'm a firm believer in learning what you love - we can drill scales and the boring stuff, but let's make sure you're playing what you WANT to play, not what you think you SHOULD play. You don't become a better writer by only reading the dictionary.

We all pick up an instrument for a reason and keeping sight of that is so important - I've studied music for long enough now to know that the learning process can often disregard our love of the music itself. So yes, while we can cover fundamentals - scales, theory etc. - I want to know what you like and how we can incorporate that into your lessons and progressing YOU as a musician.

When I met Edd, he could easily have thought my fingers were raw hot dogs... But after a few weeks of learning with Edd I can now play in time, hit the right notes, and occasionally even both at the same time! Edd made sure to cover everything I could need: finger technique, rhythm, and how to look like I know what I'm doing. Most importantly, Edd creates a space where it's safe to be rubbish and has enough patience to listen to my slow progress week on week. He treats my stumbling attempts at bass lines as if they’re all part of a noble journey, like I am Frodo and he is Samwise, supporting me on my quest up mount doom to destroy the one ring, if mount doom is my bass guitar and the ring is Thundercat's Them Changes. If you want to actually get better at bass without losing the will to live, Edd is the high priest of low frequencies for you!
