Dennis Hill

With over 20 years of experience in language teaching, I offer engaging, personalised lessons in English, German, Spanish, and beginner Russian. As a native speaker of both English and German, and fluent in Spanish, I understand first-hand the joys and challenges of learning a new language. I have taught at Newcastle University, Newcastle College, and Derwentside College, as well as online to students from all over the world.

My teaching style is friendly, creative, and highly interactive. I tailor every lesson to my students’ needs, whether you are preparing for exams, learning for professional purposes, or studying purely for enjoyment. My lessons often include practical conversation, cultural insights, music, literature, and real-world scenarios to make learning both fun and effective.

I have worked with learners of all ages – from children to retirees – and all levels, from complete beginners to advanced students refining their skills. I believe that learning a language should be an enjoyable and enriching journey. I also bring a deep personal passion for languages to my teaching. I have raised two bilingual sons, both of whom graduated from Cambridge University, and I maintain a private library of over 6,000 books in five languages, covering subjects from mathematics to philosophy.
