With over 26 years of experience as a Modern Languages teacher, I bring a wealth of expertise, passion, and proven success in helping students of all ages and abilities achieve their language learning goals. I have a Masters degree (MA Hons) and PGCE in Modern Languages.
Throughout my career, I have taught Spanish, French and ESOL at all levels of the secondary curriculum and have extensive experience in curriculum development and preparing students for national examinations. My approach combines rigorous academic instruction with interactive, student-centred methods, ensuring that learners not only acquire strong linguistic skills but also develop cultural awareness and confidence in real-world communication.
I am highly skilled in adapting lessons to suit different learning styles, from structured grammar-based sessions to conversational practice and exam preparation. As an Apple Teacher, I have become proficient in integrating digital tools and online platforms into my teaching, which has enhanced student engagement and facilitated personalised learning.
I pride myself on being approachable, patient and committed to motivating learners of all ages and stages to reach their full potential. My long-standing track record of success as a classroom teacher demonstrates my ability to create positive, supportive, and effective learning environments for students of all abilities both in person and online. I deliver mainly online lessons but can deliver in-person sessions within a 10 mile radius of my home in the Scottish Borders.
