My lessons are taught online in a relaxed, supportive, and approachable way, with sessions adapted to each student’s experience level, confidence, and personal goals. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions, experimenting creatively, and developing their skills at their own pace without feeling pressured or overwhelmed.
Lessons are practical and engaging rather than overly formal, combining demonstrations, discussions, creative exercises, and constructive feedback to help students improve. Depending on what a student wants to focus on, lessons can cover camera basics, manual settings, composition, lighting, portrait photography, editing in Lightroom, project planning, portfolio development, and written coursework support. I can also help students understand creative processes, improve their confidence with equipment, and develop stronger visual storytelling skills.
I believe photography is best learned through practice, experimentation, and reflection, so I encourage students to actively develop their own ideas and creative style rather than simply copying techniques. My teaching approach focuses on building understanding step by step, helping students gain confidence while developing both technical and creative abilities in a clear and straightforward way.
Through my teaching experience within further education, I regularly support learners with different abilities, confidence levels, and learning needs. This has helped me develop patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills, allowing me to explain creative concepts clearly and make lessons accessible and enjoyable. My goal is always to create a positive learning environment where students feel supported, motivated, and able to make genuine progress in their photography skills and creative confidence.
