Darren Doherty

I am a CELTA qualified English teacher and Psychology graduate with more than 5 years of experience teaching English in language academies. I completed the CELTA in 2017, and since then I have taught English in Vietnam, Ireland, the UK, and (primarily) Spain.

Over the past 5 years I have had the opportunity to teach essentially all levels and age groups, from kids as young as 4 years old, to adults of practically every age & background. I have also taught a variety of different classes, including General English, Conversation, Business, and Intensive Exam Preparation. As a teacher, I have been continually developing my skills.

I have consistently shown the ability to develop creative lesson plans to match the needs of a diverse range of students. I also try to be adaptable, particularly with one-on-one classes or tutorials, as different students respond to different material and teaching styles in different ways. I therefore try to use the style that suits my students best, and to incorporate topics they find interesting.

Furthermore, my background in Psychology has also played a role in shaping my teaching style, particularly with regards to creating a supportive and motivating learning environment And, as a general ethos, I set out to make lessons both productive and informative through creative activities, and by cultivating an engaging and fun atmosphere.
