At Confidence First Tutoring, lessons are calm, structured and fully tailored to each child’s individual needs. I work primarily with SEND and home-educated pupils, as well as children who may feel anxious or overwhelmed in traditional classroom settings. My approach focuses on building confidence first, as I believe children make the strongest progress when they feel safe, capable and understood.
Sessions are delivered on a 1:1 basis, either in your home (Epsom area) or online. Each lesson is carefully planned but flexible, allowing me to adapt in the moment depending on your child’s engagement, energy levels and learning style. I use a mix of practical activities, discussion, visual supports and interactive tasks to keep learning engaging and accessible.
In Reading and Writing, I focus on comprehension, vocabulary development, sentence structure and developing ideas with clarity. In Maths, I prioritise secure foundations, problem-solving skills and building number confidence. For home-educated pupils, sessions can follow the National Curriculum framework where helpful, or be more child-led and interest-based, depending on family preference.
I am a qualified primary teacher with classroom experience across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. I have supported children with a range of additional needs and understand the importance of patience, consistency and positive reinforcement. Regular feedback is provided to parents so that progress and next steps are clear.
Above all, my lessons aim to create a supportive environment where children feel encouraged, motivated and proud of their achievements.
