I learnt the basics of Spanish through the education system, before really learning the language living in Spain. I have since returned and represent Manchester United and some top Spanish football clubs doing match day translations.

I focus on conversation, and gaining the confidence to speak, rather than dwelling on the details too much for beginners. I would rather you had a basic conversation and were able to communicate than to be perfect initially. I work with many Spanish footballers who I consider to speak English, but they may order their words incorrectly or occasionally use the incorrect tense, but they still communicate effectively. I learnt Spanish through necessity in Spain, therefore I had to rely on whatever Spanish I could muster, thus I became fluent before I spoke perfectly. However, I did eventually learn to execute all tenses perfectly etc. so I am perfectly equipped to teach these tenses for more advanced learners or those learning to pass for exams etc.
