My Lessons: Monologue & Acting Through Song
Whether you’re preparing for a drama school audition, working towards a graded exam, or simply want to find more truth and confidence in your performance, my lessons are designed to meet you exactly where you are and push you further than you thought possible.
Who I Am
I’m Daniel Grace, a working professional actor trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, one of the world’s leading drama conservatoires. Alongside my training, I have an active performance career spanning musical theatre, stage, and screen. I’m also DBS cleared, an experienced drama workshop leader, and a trained singing teacher and coach. I bring all of that into the room with you.

What the Lessons Look Like:

Each session is completely one-to-one, meaning every minute is focused entirely on you, your material, and your specific development. Lessons are relaxed but purposeful. I want you to feel safe enough to take real risks, because that’s where breakthroughs actually happen. There’s no judgment for getting it wrong either. In fact, that’s often the most useful starting point.

Monologue Work:

With spoken monologues, we go beyond just learning lines. We dig into the text and look at not just what your character is saying, but why they’re saying it in this moment, to this person, with this much at stake. We work on objectives, tactics, and subtext. The stuff that turns a recited speech into a living scene. We’ll also explore the physical and vocal life of your character, drawing on the same techniques taught at the highest level of drama training in the country.

Acting Through Song:

This is where many students feel most exposed, and it makes total sense. Singing is already vulnerable, and then you’re expected to act convincingly at the same time. As a baritone with a strong musical theatre background, having played leads like Gomez Addams and Mr. Bennet on stage, I know this challenge from the inside. My approach is to strip the song back and treat the lyrics as a monologue first. Once the emotional truth is locked in, we bring the music back, and the transformation in performance is usually immediate and striking.

My Background:

With credits ranging from Royal Central productions to professional commercials and independent musicals, I understand what panels and directors are actually looking for. I know how to help you present your most authentic, compelling work when it counts.

All I ask is that you come ready to commit, stay honest, and have a go.????????????????
