As a fourth-year medical student at the University of Glasgow, I understand both the academic demands students face and the importance of having lessons that are engaging, supportive, and tailored to individual learning styles. My aim as a tutor is not only to help students improve academically, but also to build their confidence and make learning feel more approachable and manageable.
My lessons are structured but flexible depending on the student’s needs and goals. I usually begin by identifying areas the student finds challenging and then break topics down into simple, understandable steps. I like to use a combination of explanation, active recall, practice questions, and exam-style techniques to reinforce understanding and help students apply their knowledge effectively. I believe students learn best when they are actively involved in the lesson, so I encourage questions and discussion throughout.
I mainly teach Biology, Chemistry, and general science subjects, particularly for students preparing for exams or looking to strengthen their understanding of core concepts. Through studying medicine, I have developed strong problem-solving skills, patience, and the ability to explain complex information clearly and calmly. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit each individual, whether they prefer visual learning, repetition, worked examples, or discussion-based learning.
Alongside my studies, I have experience working in a variety of professional environments including administration, catering, and customer-facing roles, which has strengthened my communication skills, organisation, and ability to work well with different people. I would describe myself as approachable, reliable, encouraging, and genuinely passionate about helping students achieve their goals and feel more confident in their abilities.
